Hi, my name is Saima Shaik

Therapy for depression, anxiety, stress and trauma. I help people learn to deal with their negative emotions.

Are you tired of coping with your problems through avoidance? Scrolling social media, watching the same movies over and over, sleeping in, and staying home all the time is not actually making you feel any better.

You notice yourself struggling at work, isolating, lashing out at your partner or kids, over eating, and just not enjoying life anymore. Maybe your parents taught you to sweep all of your problems under the rug and "be grateful." You really do appreciate all the sacrifices that have been made for you, but you still can't shake these negative feelings. You know it is time to try something different.

For many people, seeking mental health treatment is frowned upon. But, it can make such a big difference in your quality of life. Imagine how things could be different if you learned to face negative emotions without fear instead of avoiding them. I can't wait to get to know you and help you find your peace.

First And Second Generation Americans, Students, Medical Professionals: All Welcome

I have a special place in my heart for working with first and second generation Americans. I understand how hard it can be as the child of an immigrant, feeling caught between two worlds and feeling like you don’t fit in either. Read more about my approach to Multicultural Counseling

I also used to be a therapist at a student counseling center on a college campus, so I have a special understanding of the needs of college students and Young Adults.

I also work with many aspiring medical professionals. Here are some tips for navigating the pressure of medical school and self-care for medical professionals throughout their career.

You can read this blog if you’d like to learn more about what it would be like to work with me.

Muslim Counseling resources

Many people find my page while they are searching for Muslim providers. However, we often get requests for services that I cannot provide, such as couple’s counseling, children’s counseling, psychiatric services. I am also not in network with the HMOs, BCBS Community Health, Medicare, or Medicaid.

See the list of Muslim providers who meet some of the needs that Saima cannot. We hope this information is helpful.

If I am not in network with your insurance type, and you’d like to get tips for how to get therapy covered, here is a good read.
